MUSCAT: Dhofar Governorate will receive heavy rainfall (100-200 mm) during the next 24 hours associated with strong winds with flooding over the low and coastal areas following the tropical depression that made the landfall on Friday night.
In the latest weather report issued by the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) said: “Tropical depression located over the coastal areas of Dhofar Governorate with estimated surface wind speed around center between 17 and 25 knots and is likely to intensify to a deep tropical depression during the coming hours.”
Salalah and adjoining areas have been witnessing heavy rainfall since Thursday evening. Meanwhile, the blood bank of Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah reported a severe shortage of blood and its derivatives, especially platelets. and “We invite citizens and residents who are able to reach the hospital to come and donate the blood,” the statement from the hospital said.
