MUSCAT: Non-Omanis will be denied entry to the Sultanate through land, sea and airports, except for citizens of GCC countries, to halt the spread of the coronavirus. The Sultanate also suspended Friday prayers at all mosques in the country.
According to a decision taken by the Supreme Committee appointed by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, all travellers must undergo a 14-day quarantine in the country. All the decisions will come into effect from March 17, 2020.
The steps are the latest in a series of precautionary measures in Sultanate that has recorded 22 confirmed coronavirus cases. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior.

Key decisions of the meeting:
1. Friday prayers suspended in all mosques in the country.
2. Entry for non-Omanis suspended except for cititzens of GCC countries from land, sea and air.
3. All public parks will be closed.
4. Quarantine measures will be applied to all those coming from all countries including Omanis.
5. All public gatherings such as weddings are banned.
