MUSCAT: The Supreme Committee headed by Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidy, Minister of Interior, has called on citizens and residents to avoid travelling due to the current situation of the coronavirus outbreak and its spread in several countries.

The recommendation comes after the committee appointed by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik held the first meeting on Thursday.

The committee also took several preventive measures for one-month such as suspending tourist visas to all countries, suspending cruise ships to Oman’s ports, banning shisha and stopping all sports related activities.

Oman has so far confirmed 19 cases of coronavirus, while nine patients have recovered.
