Muscat: The Sultanate’s national airline Oman Air has announced its plans to fly non-stop flights to the United States by late 2021 or early 2022, according to Mustafa Al Hinai, CEO of Oman Aviation Group.

Speaking in an interview to Business Insider on the sidelines of World Economic Forum in Davos, Al Hinai said the airline plans to fly to at least one destination in the US as soon as next year. “Flying to the US will happen in through a codeshare in the meantime, but in late 2021, 2022, we’ll be focusing into the US market. Because it’s a very big market,” he said.

Currently Oman Air has a codeshare agreement with Air Italy, meaning that Oman Air passengers can fly Oman Air from Muscat to Milan, and then Air Italy from Milan to Miami or New York.

Other Gulf airlines such as Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways are already flying non-stop flights to US.
