Omanis spend at least 87 minutes a day gaming: Study

According to a new study 35% of Omanis play online games.

MUSCAT: In yet another reminder of how quickly the gaming market in Oman is growing, a new study from National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) reports that 35 per cent of Omanis play online games.

According to the study, 68 per cent of Omani families have a Tablets or iPads and PlayStation is the most common game among Omani families with 59 per cent having it while XBox is used by 7 per cent.

Interestingly, 82 per cent play games using mobile phones while 39 per cent of Omanis use PlayStation and 8 per cent use Tablets.

87-minutes a day

According to the survey, Omanis aged over 18 years spend an average of 87 minutes a day playing online games (94 minutes spent by males against 71 minutes spent by females). While, Omani children play electronic games for an average of 40 minutes a day which increase to 173 minutes a day during the summer holidays.

The survey was done in September on a sample of 1,501 Omani citizens aged 18 and above.
