Muscat: Omanis who are eligible to cast their vote will be granted an official leave on October 27 due to the Majlis Al Shura elections, the Ministry of Interior has announced on Tuesday.
As the voting for the ninth term of Majlis Al Shura is scheduled for Sunday, October 27, the Ministry said those Omanis who are casting their vote on the election day are eligible to take official leave. “Every voter who casts his or her vote on the day of voting shall be entitled to official leave,” Ministry said in a statement online.
“The voter can obtain a leave certificate after the election day (October 28), through the elections app or the elections website www.elections.om,” the Ministry added.
More than 700,000 voters are expected to cast their votes in the polls. The ministry announced that the total number of voters in the preliminary lists stood at 713,335, including 375,801 male voters and 337,534 female voters. They will elect 86 members to the Majlis.
