MUSCAT: Parking your vehicles in parking spots dedicated to disabled individuals is a law-breaking action, and a violation of the rights of this category of individuals dear to us all.
According to the traffic law, motorists who illegally park their vehicles in slots reserved for people with special needs face a fine of OMR 50 and twoblack points.
On Monday, the Ministry of Social Development has reacted to a citizen’s tweet after he posted a picture of a government vehicle parked on double yellow lines and in disabled parking space.

“Although my son is with special needs, I have had to stop myself to park in parking lots allocated for people with disabilities. I do not have a permit, despite many attempts to obtain a permit, but it failed,” he tweeted to MoSD. The Ministry quickly responded urging the Royal Oman Police to take swift action against the vehicle. “Your son’s case is being followed up on granting permission. As for the government vehicle, this is the responsibility of the Royal Oman Police, calling on the police to take the necessary action,” MoSD tweeted.
