Oman creates two new ministries for technology, arts

His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said has issued a series of Royal Decrees that include two new ministries.

MUSCAT: Oman created two new ministries that includes one for technology and communications that will separate itself from the current Ministry of Transport and Communications.

In a series of Royal Decrees issued by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said on Monday, a new Ministry of Technology and Communications will be established, while the Decree has also amended the name of Ministry of Transport and Communications to Ministry of Transport. 

The third Royal Decree establishes the Ministry of Arts Affairs while the fourth Decree establishes a body called the Tax Authority, which reports to the Council of Ministers. 

His Majesty appointed Eng. Azza bint Sulaiman Al Ismailia as the new Minister of Technology and Communications, while Dr. Suad bint Mohammed Al Lawati as the new Minister of Arts Affairs .

The fifth Royal Decree created the post of Minister of State and Governor of Musandam.

His Majesty also appointed Eng. Mohsen bin Mohammed bin Ali Al Shaikh as advisor to the Royal Court. 

His Majesty also appointed Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, the deputy governor of Central Bank of Oman as head of Tax Authority.
