Muscat: Authorities are intensifying crackdown on illegal taxi drivers who are transporting passengers from Muscat International Airport.
On Wednesday, the inspection team at Ministry of Manpower has arrested 20 workers of which most of them were drivers transporting passengers from airport in private taxis. The arrest comes following repeated warnings by authorities asking people not to transport passengers using private cars. According to Ministry of Transport and Communications, unauthorised passenger transport by illegal taxis to and from Muscat International Airport will attract a fine of OMR 200.
Oman’s national transport company, Mwasalat is the licensed operator to pick up passengers from the airport.
