London: Boris Johnson was announced as the winner of the Conservative Party leadership contest on Tuesday and will succeed outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May in 10 Downing Street.
The former foreign secretary was elected by Conservative Party members, beating his successor at the foreign office Jeremy Hunt in the final round.
Johnson, who once served as the Mayor of London, was a favourite throughout the contest.
