MUSCAT: A growing number of children under the age of 13 are using YouTube, a new report finds.
In a survey published by National Center of Statistics and Information, it is revealed that the number of Omani children using YouTube has climbed to 76%— more than WhatsApp, which came at 28%. Several other social media platforms including Instagram and SnapChat were also factored into the survey.
According to the NCSI report, only 14% of children under 13-years uses Instagram while just 8% are on SnapChat.

Meanwhile, the total number of social media users in Oman has grown by over 600,000 since January 2017, according to new research from social media management platform Hootsuite.
Data also shows that Oman had 2.60 million social media users as of January 2018, covering a total of 55 per cent of the Sultanate’s population.
