Taking advantage of the vacant international slots amid Jet Airways crisis, Air India will add two more flights to Dubai from June 1 using the Boeing Dreamliner 787 aircraft.

While one flight will be added from Delhi, the other will operate from Mumbai.

Currently, the national carrier operates two flights to Dubai, one from Delhi using B787 plane and the other from financial capital Mumbai using an Airbus A320 aircraft.

Earlier, Indian Airlines, which later merged with Air India, used to operate six daily flights to Dubai.

This comes after the government started the process of allocation of Jet Airways’ internationally traffic rights for an interim period.

Jet Airways suspended operations for a temporary but indefinite period on April 17 and has been desperately seeking an investor ever since. Lenders have not been able to make headway in the matter so far.

Jet Airways was the largest international operator as per Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DGCA) 2017-18 data with 13.8 percent market share, followed by Air India.

Today, the union civil aviation ministry held a meeting with the airlines where the carriers submitted their wish list regarding Jet Airways’ international slots.
