MUSCAT:As part of funding the education of children from low-income families, the Indian School Muscat Alumni (ISMA) is hosting a charity cricket tournament on April 5 at Oman Cricket’s Al Amerat Cricket Turf Ground.
This event will feature a series of friendly cricket matches between ISM Alumni and is expected to unite and involve ISM Alumni from Oman and abroad to cheer and support their teams. The matches will be held from 2pm to 11pm.
Speaking to The Arabian Stories, Mukund Manohar, President of ISMA said: “As alumni, we all have a duty and responsibility to give back to the school community. When we started discussing different ideas on how we can best serve our school, our team unanimously agreed that helping educate those who are deserving was our top priority.

Last year, ISMA hosted three sporting events and the proceeds from the events, resulted in the awarding of tuition fee scholarships to 16 ISM students from low-income families. According to Manohar, the academic scholarship awardees were selected using criteria that gave preference to students with a single parent and with very low or no income.
Bringing people together
“Sporting events always bring people together, and hosting events like the cricket tournament brings Alumni from various batches and backgrounds together and also helps raise awareness for a worthy cause. Our Alumni are all very excited and very supportive as they get to play a game they love and also give back to their Alma Mater!” he noted.

Founded on December 17, 1997, the ISMA currently has over 40,000 alumni spread across the globe. ISMA’s goal is to encourage the alumni network to be active so their connection to the school remains strong and to find meaningful ways to give back to the school community.
“ISMA invites everyone to attend this much-awaited event, cheer on your favorite teams and support us in this noble cause. This is an open event with free entry for all,” Manohar added.
