MUSCAT: Parents of Indian School Muscat are irked as the school has increased the tuition fee for students studying in all classes, except Class 1.
A notice issued by the Indian School Muscat, signed by principal Rajiv Kumar Chauhan, states that tuition fee has been increased by OMR1 for students studying in KG1 and KG2 and also for students studying from Class 2 till 12 from April 2019.
“I can’t understand why the school has done this. In my case, I have not got salary for the last three months. Additionally, I have two children studying in ISM. Monthly, OMR 1 increase is a big issue for me at this point,” a parent told The Arabian Stories.

“Now, the school may tell that why are we holding the children back here when there is a financial crisis. The answer for that is that I have the right to keep my family with me,” the parent said.

According to the new monthly fee structure, KG 1 and 2 student should pay OMR40.500, Class 1 students should pay OMR39.500 and students studying from Class 2 till 4, should pay OMR36.500.
And students studying from Class 5 till 8, should pay OMR 37.500 and those who are studying from Class 9 till 12 should pay OMR39.500.
“We know well that the school management is not good at managing funds. Every time, they make loss and the way they find to compensate it is to increase the fee,” a parent said.
Another parent alleged that, they are surprised why this is happening when there are there are two representatives in the school board from the embassy.
“Is it that even embassy also don’t have a heart. Don’t they know that Indians are struggling a lot due to economic conditions,” the parent added.
There are around 9,000 students studying in Indian School Muscat.
