MUSCAT: For the first time, Indian School Darsait will host the Inter School Mega Quiz Contest providing a unique quizzing experience to budding quizzers in Oman.   

The event is held under the aegis of the Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman.  “The Indian Schools in Oman is constantly striving to better the educational system through diverse activities that promote the joy of learning. This new initiative, ISQuiz will add a fun, gamification element to learning, while also providing our children across the Sultanate with a platform to enhance, display and apply their learning in a different format”, said Baby Sam Saamuel, Chairman, Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman.

Speaking about the event, Jaikish Pavithran, President, School Management Committee said, ‘ISD is fortunate to have got an opportunity to host this maiden quizzing event under the aegis of BoD powered by Noor Gazal.  The initial preparations are in full swing and we hope to put up a fabulous show.’

Giving details about the event, Principal Dr. Sridevi P.Thashnath added, ‘this mega sponsored event has been planned in April 2019 in three stages and is open to students of all Indian Schools across Oman in two categories: Junior (Classes V to VIII) and Senior (Classes IX to XII). There will be two online Preliminary Rounds conducted at the school level. The Preliminary Round 1 will be conducted on 5th April 2019 followed by Preliminary Round 2 on 6th April 2019 at the respective schools.’

Top three teams of each participating schools will qualify for the Mega Prelims to be conducted on Thursday, 11 April 2019, at Indian School Darsait Senior School Auditorium from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In the Grand Finale to be held on Friday, 12 April 2019 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at City Amphitheatre, Qurum, top eight teams in each categories will battle it out for the Championship Trophy as well as for the many alluring prizes that await the winners.

The registration for the contest will be open until 21st March 2019 through the link provided on the ISD’s school website. Rules and regulations and other details required for registration will be sent to the participants through respective schools.

This Inter School Mega Quiz will also witness the introduction of an in-house quiz contest for the Sub- Junior Category (Classes 1 to 4) to tap their quizzing potential and to catch them young.  One of the special attractions of this event will be a one hour workshop session by the Quiz Master for the participants of the Mega Prelims.
