Thousands of Keralites who had booked tickets to travel from Muscat to Kochi on IndiGo are stranded as the airline has stopped its operations from March 31, 2019, without any notification to travelers.
“Many had booked tickets in January itself. Some had taken tickets for June travel too. As Indian schools are closed for summer holidays during those months, many families had booked tickets. Now, they all are in trouble,” a passenger who had booked ticket told The Arabian Stories.

“When I booked ticket on Jan 25, to travel on May 26th, I got an e-mail on March 3 stating that the flight has been cancelled,” the passenger said.

The passenger had purchased the one-way ticket for RO60. Now, as the flight is cancelled, he is being forced to purchase a fresh ticket in another airline by shelling out RO115 for the same destination.
A family which had purchased ticket for RO300 have been forced to purchase a fresh ticket for RO700 to the same destination as they couldn’t defer their travel.
The passenger when contacted the airline’s call center regarding the refund, they informed him that the pay will be made in two installments.
“For my RO60 ticket, they told that they will give RO33 as first installment and the rest as second installment. Isn’t it an exploitation. Why does the airline do like this. They had even issued tickets till June. If they had plans to stop in March end, why did they do like this,” the passenger added.
The airline’s flights to the southern Indian city of Calicut from Muscat too were discontinued last year.
The carrier operated its last flight from Muscat to the western Indian city of Ahmedabad on February 28.
Indigo had started flying to Ahmedabad on November 1, 2018 with four weekly flights.
Indigo now only operates flights to the western Indian city of Mumbai from Muscat.
Also, India’s struggling private airline Jet Airways discontinued its service on the Muscat-Delhi route from last December.
Talking to an English media in Muscat, an official from Indigo’s call centre in India had said, “Our last flight from Kochi [southern Indian city] to Muscat is on March 29 and the last from Muscat to Kochi on March 30.”
