MUSCAT: Meters on orange and white taxis are mandatory, but if the driver and passenger agree on a fare for a trip, there is no objection, Ministry of Transport and Communication has said in a statement uploaded in its official twitter handle.
A ministerial decision (No 195/2018) issued earlier made it mandatory for taxis to install meters to preserve the rights of passengers as well as drivers.
