MUSCAT : According to the data issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information, private license accounted for 79.6 percent of the registered vehicles, reaching a total of 1,326,587 vehicles, with 54 percent (902,244 vehicles) of them having an engine capacity between 1,500 and 3,000 cubic centimeters.
Statistics also showed that the majority (of 42.7 percent) of vehicles were in white colour, totaling 71273 vehicles, while the highest percentage of increase in vehicles in terms of colours was in purple with an increase of 21.6 percent, followed by gray, at a rate of 10.9 percent.
Vehicles with commercial license accounted for 14.7 percent (244,486 vehicles); the number of rental vehicles reached 33,861 vehicles, or 2 percent; and the number of taxis reached 27,881 vehicles, or 1.7 percent.
In terms of vehicle weights, the number of vehicles weighing less than 3 tons reached 1,510,013, representing 90.6 percent of the total vehicles registered in the Sultanate of Oman.
