MUSCAT : In a move to promote safer driving practices, the Royal Oman Police has issued a warning regarding the vital role of turn signals in ensuring road safety. The traffic directorate underscored that the correct use of turn signals is fundamental to preventing numerous traffic accidents and minimizing potential hazards on the roads.
The Directorate General of Traffic called on all drivers to always use turn signals, when changing lanes or turning right or left.
It stressed that turn signals serve as crucial communication tools between drivers, enabling them to indicate their intentions to change lanes or make turns. Failure to utilize these signals can result in confusion among fellow motorists, heightening the likelihood of collisions and other road incidents. The absence of turn signals may also pose risks to pedestrians and cyclists, who rely on visual cues to anticipate vehicle movements and navigate roadways safely.
It also called for ensuring that turn signals are turned on sufficiently before changing the vehicle’s lane, and giving sufficient time for other drivers to pay attention to these signals.
The ROP emphasized the collective responsibility shared by all drivers to prioritize the use of turn signals consistently.
As part of its ongoing commitment to road safety, the Royal Oman Police calls upon all drivers to exercise diligence in utilizing turn signals and adhering to traffic regulations.
