MUSCAT : Oman now ranks 68th globally, compared to 80th in the previous index issued in 2022. Among Arab nations, Oman stands fourth, following Kuwait, the Emirates, and Qatar.
Denmark leads the index rankings, followed closely by Norway and Finland, while South Sudan occupies the bottom position, with the Central African Republic trailing closely behind. The primary objective of the index is to gauge a country’s level of social progress, focusing on its capacity to fulfill citizens’ fundamental needs, elevate their standard of living, and safeguard it over time.
Recognized as the most comprehensive benchmark for assessing countries’ social and environmental performance, irrespective of economic variables, the index relies on a range of criteria encompassing well-being, opportunities, and basic human needs. It evaluates outcomes aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
