MUSCAT: In order to obtain licences to recruit expat workers some private sector companies in Oman have submitted fake Omanisation documents, the Ministry of Labour has revealed.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry said 180 fake Omanisation cases were used to obtain work permits to recruit 660 expats by several companies.
“While investigating we found that the aim was to get advantage of the facilities provided by the Ministry,” the statement said.

“When following up the procedures related to the job rotation of the Omani workforce, it was noted that some of these cases achieved 15 cases of job turnover and the last nine cases within one year and upon verifying these cases it was found that their goal was to obtain some facilities provided to the private sector establishments from the Ministry,” Ministry of Labour said.
According to the Ministry such violations will have a negative impact on the sector and the economy. “We urge companies not to get involved in such acts that will negatively impact the economy. We also requests all citizens of the private sector not to agree to participate in such violations in order to preserve their rights and the rights of others,” the statement added.
